Modern shotguns need modern slings. The pistol-gripped shotgun is as common today as ever, and putting a single-point sling on it adds versatility and safety to it's usefulness. Whether you are a third shift patrol officer or a homeowner riding out a storm, this type of weapon is hard to beat. But what if you need a free hand? There's a door to open, you must move a person out of harm's way, or you need to clear a path through brush? The single-point sling goes way beyond the "cool factor" at that point, it becomes a necessity. Setting the weapon down is not an option. Having a thug waiting around the corner to snatch your shotgun from you isn't either!

Viper single point slings come with a Brute or Talon sling swivel A common sling stud is required to mount the sling to the shotgun or rifle. Mossberg OEM pistol grips have a hole for the stud already on the left side. Other grips may need to be drilled and a stud (Uncle Mikes etc) is then threaded into the hole. Studs are usually machined with WOOD screw threads which are desirable for this purpose. To mount the stud in the receiver or aluminum/steel grip mount requires the hole to be threaded, and a machine screw threaded stud to be used. Parts are available but SD takes no responsibility for your home gunsmithing.
The ATI collapsable stock works very well with the Viper single point sling and is not difficult to assemble. The Viper comes with a sling swivel (either Brute or the Talon (steel) as shown above. But a sling mounting stud is needed to attach the sling to the shotgun. It is a simple job of getting a #12 pan-head wood screw at ACE hardware or Lowes etc. and moving the ATI butt-mounted stud to the side above the pistol grip. ATI supplies the stock with a barrel nut and screw. Remove these, replace them at the stock/grip junction with the stud in the left side, and your wood screw (#12 panhead) on the right side to secure the stock. Caution: Do not over tighten these two parts, the plastic is strong but can be stripped out with too much torque. Snug is all that is required!
